Skin Quality Treatments

Skin quality is the visiting card of Devonshire Dermatology.

Your skin is the window to your body that reveals the stories of your life. From acne breakouts during your teenage years to the radiant glow of pregnancy and the sunspots of ageing, both your age and your health are reflected in the quality of your skin.

Many factors affect your skin quality. Genetics, ageing, hormones and conditions such as diabetes are internal factors that affect the skin. Some of these you cannot influence but there are many external factors that you can. External influences include unprotected sun exposure and washing too frequently or with water that is too hot. An unhealthful diet, stress, lack of sleep, insufficient exercise, dehydration, smoking and certain medications can each impair skin quality.

All our skin quality aesthetic interventions are aimed at improving skin elasticity and hydration. In medical language, our treatments for skin quality are aimed at promoting new collagen synthesis (neocollagenesis).

Our treatments that stimulate collagen and elastin regeneration range from chemical peels and regular lymphatic drainage massage to more potent stimulating treatments, such as RF microneedling and HIFU.

Often, we combine treatments using energy based devices together with injectables, such as mesotherapy and skin boosters. Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) and Sculptra ( poly-l-lactic acid) are collagen stimulators which enhance skin elasticity without volumising the face and thereby achieve a non-surgical lifting effect.

Each patient’s case is unique and will benefit from a personalised combination of treatments. Your personal treatment plan will be devised and designed at your primary aesthetic consultation at Devonshire Dermatology.
