Rosacea treatment
Clear up rosacea symptoms and prevent future flare-ups
Rosacea is a skin condition that can affect anyone, but is particularly common in women with fair skin. The main symptoms include flushing, which is when the skin suddenly becomes red, spots, and thread veins. However some people also experience red eyes, and occasionally in men, rosacea causes a swollen, strawberry nose.
A primary cause of rosacea is vasoreactivity. This means it runs in the family. It causes 10-20% of rosacea cases. That said, environmental triggers of rosacea include sudden changes in temperature, certain foods, caffeinated drinks, and alcohol. Common emotional triggers are stress and anxiety. Hormones are also a key factor. For example, female sufferers are more likely to experience rosacea the week before their period.
We offer a number of effective treatments to clear up the skin damage caused by rosacea, and at the same time, we’ll work with you on a holistic approach to your diagnosis; helping you understand the triggers that are causing your rosacea, so you can avoid them.

FAQs
There are a few different treatment options. Dr Rowland Payne’s face cream is one of our favourites. It has been specially developed after years of experience in working with rosacea. To be used sparingly once or twice a day.
Other treatments we offer include energy based devices (EBDs), such as lasers, intense pulsed light (IPL), radiosurgery, and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). However, to find the most appropriate treatment for you, and provide you with optimal results, Dr Rowland Payne will need to perform a thorough skin assessment during your patient consultation.

Thread veins are a common symptom of rosacea. They are highly prominent red or purple veins just below the skin surface. We will heat the unwanted vein in a non-invasive way, causing it to collapse. It will then be swept away by the immune system, leaving you with a smoother skin tone.

If you’re experiencing rosacea symptoms, Dr Rowland Payne will first need to rule out you potentially suffering from lupus erythematosus, or other similar conditions.

During your consultation with Dr Payne, you’ll have a thorough skin assessment, and receive a diagnosis. You’ll then have a discussion about your treatment options, as well as how you can holistically resolve the problems you’re experiencing. Finally a treatment plan will be drawn up to give you an idea of when your treatment sessions will take place, and when you can expect to see results.
