Dr Rowland Payne is consultant dermatologist to The London Clinic. He trained in London at St Bartholomew’s, St Thomas’s & Westminster Hospitals and in Edinburgh at the Royal Infirmary. Later, he was Professeur Universitaire at the Université de Paris-Créteil and Honorary Consultant Dermatologist to the Royal Marsden Hospital, London & Sutton. He was Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology and President & Secretary-General of the European Society for Cosmetic & Aesthetic Dermatology. He has published and presented papers on all aspects of dermatology, including skin cancer surgery, cosmetic dermatology & psychodermatology.

He is co-author of the major international multiauthor textbook, “Cosmetic Medicine & Surgery”, and is chairman of the European Academy of DermatoVenerology’s cosmetic dermatology task force. In 2017, he was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine’s Stevens Medal for his lecture, ‘Skin cancer and sun addiction’. He is currently in full time private clinical practice and is also Professor of Dermatology at the Ludes Lugano University Campus of Malta & Professor of Academic Cosmetic Dermatology at the Universita Roma-Marconi.

Clinical dermatology:

Dr Rowland Payne has been a consultant dermatologist for more than 20 years. He is a clinical dermatologist who is happiest seeing patients. He is active in all areas of clinical dermatology, notably surgical dermatology, especially the treatment of skin cancer, melanoma and Dupuytren’s contracture. He probably has the most experience of anyone in the UK in treating Dupuytren’s contracture by needle aponeurotomy (percutaneous needle fibrotomy). He pioneered the treatment of percutaneous retrodermal curettage for axillary hyperhidrosis. He has been very active, both at home and abroad, in teaching these novel treatments for Dupuytren’s contracture and hyperhidrosis. He has with others, established multidisciplinary teams to deliver care to patients with melanoma and Dupuytren’s contracture. In 2005, as a director of MoleMonitor, he was instrumental in establishing the Mole Service (mole mapping by total skin photography and serial dermoscopy) which is now located at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. From 2009 until 2017, he was Chairman of The London Clinic Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). In 2015, his own purpose-designed clinic was opened at 27 Devonshire Place beside The London Clinic. During 2023, Dr Rowland Payne’s clinic doubled in surface area and he took on another two dermatologists and maxillofacial surgeon.

Scientific literature:

Dr Rowland Payne was a co-author of the first paper in the world literature (1985) to describe the skin manifestations of AIDS & HIV. His work on nodular prurigo is the standard reference. For “Bimodality in age of onset of psoriasis, in both patients and their relatives”, with others, he won the British Association of Dermatologists’ biennial Wycombe Chair and Prize for 1993 & 1994 (“awarded for an outstanding contribution to dermatology published from a non-teaching centre”). He was co-author of seminal work from Paris on toxic epidermal necrolysis. Rowland Payne’s syndrome (Horner’s with ipsilateral phrenic and vocal cord palsies) appears in standard textbooks of neurology and is listed in Magalini’s Dictionary of Medical Syndromes. He coined the terms and wrote the original descriptions of the “Sunbed Suntan SacroScapular Sparing Sign”, the “cornflake sign” (in Kyrle-Flegel disease) and the “deckchair sign” (in papuloerytheroderma). He has published many scientific papers and chapters in books and is on many Journal Editorial Boards. He is Joint Editor of the major international multiauthor comprehensive multidisciplinary textbook, “Cosmetic Medicine and Surgery”, published by CRC Press/Taylor & Francis in 2016; the Chinese edition was published in 2023. In 2020, he was co-author of the paper, “Cutaneous signs in Covid 2019 patients: a review” and, in 2023, he published, “Triple synchronous melanoma: importance of total skin examination”.

Academic dermatology:

In 2006, he established the London Clinic Grand Rounds which he ran until 2013. He has been a supervisor for the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Overseas Doctors Training Scheme. He has taught and done pro bono work abroad: in the Yemen (RCP Travelling Fellow), at the University of Texas and in Ghana and Ethiopia (visiting Professorships). In 1984-85, for one year, he was Professeur Universitaire at the Université de Paris, where he saw patients, taught French medical students and postgraduates, contributed to major publications on toxic epidermal necrolysis and participated in research into the growing of artificial living skin equivalent. On his return to London, having been awarded an MRC project grant, he established a new tissue culture laboratory at Westminster Hospital. In 2014 he was Visiting Professor of Dermatology at the University of Aksum in Ethiopia. At the invitation of the President of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), CRP gave the RSM’s 2017 Stevens Lecture for the Laity on “Skin cancer and sun addiction”. He is currently Professor of Dermatology at Ludes Lugano University Campus of Malta & Professor of Academic Cosmetic Dermatologyat the Universita Roma-Marconi. In 2022, he was made an Honorary Member of the Serbian Association of Dermatovenereologists and, was awared the Centenary Diploma of the University of Belgrade School of Medicine.

Cosmetic dermatology:

Dr Rowland Payne is an internationally recognised expert in cosmetic dermatology. In 1997, he was one of the cofounders of the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD) (President 1997-98, Sec-Gen 1997-2014). In 2001, he became the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, a fully indexed journal considered to be the foremost journal in the field. He organised the ESCAD Annual Scientific Meetings from 1997-2014 and he helped organise the Cosmoderm series of international congresses from 2000-2014. His contribution to cosmetic dermatology has been recognised by the European Academy of DermatoVenereology (EADV), who asked him to give their plenary lectures, “What is the role of aesthetic medicine in today’s dermatology” in Vienna in 2007 & “Ageing of the skin” in Krakow in 2013, and by the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), who in 2008 asked him to establish & lead their annual RSM Aesthetics Meetings (the RSM’s International Scientific Multidisciplinary Annual Aesthetics Meetings); RSM Aesthetics 9 took place at the RSM in February 2017. From 2008 until 2011, he was Advisor to the Faculty for the Diploma of Cosmetic Medicine (University of Leicester). Since 2011, he has been Professor of Academic Cosmetic Dermatology at the Universita Roma-Marconi. At the request of the EADV, he has held five EADV Fostering and Advanced Courses in Interventional Cosmetics, 2011-2017, sharing with colleagues the finer points in cosmetic injection techniques. From 2015-2017, he has been the chief programme advisor for the EADV Annual Congress’s Aesthetic Programme. In 2016, he was elected President of the RSM’s Aesthetic Faculty Council. He currently chairs the EADV cosmetic dermatology task force.

Dr Nagla Konbor

Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Nagla Konbor is a consultant dermatologist with more than 15 years of clinical experience. She has served as a consultant dermatologist at Barts, the Royal London, Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals, as well as at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. She is currently consultant dermatologist to Nottingham University Hospital.

Dr Konbor has experience in managing the full range of dermatological conditions. She is an expert in hair and acne treatment, including the treatment of acne scaring and alopecia. She has a special interest in melanoma and skin cancer and offers regular mole checks, as well as removal of benign lesions, cancerous lesions, cysts and warts. Additional areas of expertise include inflammatory skin disorders, such as eczema and psoriasis.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Konbor is closely involved with medical education. She supervises the training of upcoming dermatology trainees and her previous roles have included being a lecturer at Warwick Medical School and an examiner at the Medical College of St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Furthermore, Dr Konbor is active in dermatological research, seeking new developments in the management of skin conditions.

Dr Liliana Sytnyk

Aesthetic Physician

Dr Liliana Sytnyk is a consultant dermatologist and dermatological surgeon in Ukraine, where she qualified in medicine in 1999. Dr Liliana is also a member of the European Academy of DermatoVenereology’s Cosmetic Dermatology Task Force and the European Consensus Group on Thread Lifting. Since 2005, she has been practising dermatology and aesthetic dermatology and she has her own clinic in Kyiv where she has a team of doctors. She is a sought after lecturer at international conferences where she speaks about skin quality, nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals, advanced combined treatments with injectables and devices, and botulinum techniques. Her special interest has always been skin health and skin quality. She adheres to the holistic approach and so her consultations regarding skin quality focus not only aesthetic treatments but also on lifestyle & nutrition. Her additional interest in endocrinology has helped her to understand more about hormonal influences on the skin which has also broadened her practice.

In the UK, Dr Liliana Sytnyk is registered with the GMC as a medical practitioner. This year she is also a postgraduate student at Canterbury Christ Church University. She practices as an aesthetic physician at Devonshire Dermatology, where she focuses on a holistic approach to skin health and beauty. She practices the full range of aesthetic interventions from thread lifting, fillers and botulinum to regular aesthetic non-interventional treatments to improve skin quality.

Dr Svitlana Larkina PhD

Skin Specialist

Dr Svetlana Larkina is a consultant maxillofacial surgeon in Ukraine with over 25 years of experience in aesthetic medicine. She graduated from Odessa National Medical University in 1994 and was later awarded a PhD for her work, “Pathophysiological substantiation of the use of hyaluronic acid in the complex treatment of age-related skin and periodontal changes”. Dr Larkina has been in practice for over 25 years in Odessa and has thousands of grateful patients worldwide. She is the founder and senior physician of the Larkina Centre and also CEO of an online educational platform for aesthetic medicine professionals, Aesthetic Integral. Aside from her practice, she trains fellow physicians and is frequently invited to speak at international congresses. Dr Larkina has been working with hyaluronic acid fillers since 2002 and with calcium hydroxyapatite fillers since 2005; she is an international trainer in these techniques and owns three patents on the advanced usage of these agents for the correction of age-related changes. She has been performing thread lifting since 2011 and holds a patent for the safe and painless introduction of threads. She has been working with botulinum (Dysport, Botox, Xeomin and Neuronox) since 2001, holds a patent for the use of botulinum toxin for the correction of age-related changes and is the author of guidelines for the harmonisation of appearance in patients with bruxism.

Dr. Larkina is also the coauthor of guidelines for the harmonisation of appearance in patients with bruxism and for prosthetic- and injection-related complications.

Lydia Caslin

Head Nurse

I was born in Dublin where I trained as a registered nurse. Here at Devonshire Dermatology, I am the Head Nurse, having worked here since May 2021. During my time here, I have gained much experience in medical and aesthetic dermatology. Over the last two years, I have also completed a comprehensive course in interventional aesthetics and I am greatly enjoying working with patients and exercising the knowledge and expertise that I have learned and developed in the last few years.

Aside from work, I love to see my friends and family in London and in Dublin. This year I plan to further my education in dermatology and plan some trips with my friends.

Sophia McGivern

Nurse

I am a registered general nurse and I have recently moved to London. I trained at the University of Manchester and worked there on the elderly medical ward throughout the Covid pandemic. Since then I worked in Accident & Emergency at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where I was born. I started here at Devonshire Dermatology in 2023. I am enjoying it and I am looking forward to learning more and getting to know more of our patients.

Outside work, I love to travel, keep fit and spend time with my friends and family.

Laura Santiago

Healthcare Assistant

I am from Spain and have been living in London for the past three years. I trained in Spain as a paediatric healthcare assistant and since then I have worked for four years in Accident & Emergency, Operating Theatres and the Labour Ward. I joined Devonshire Dermatology at the beginning of March 2023. I am enjoying my work here with the patients and I am learning more and more every day.

In my personal life, I enjoy fitness training, reading and travelling. I am an ex-karateka and have been practising it for 14 years.

I joined the clinic in 2020. I came to the UK more than 17 years ago from my native Hungary. In the UK, I have gained experience in customer service by working first in a pub and then by liaising with patients and medical staff when working at an NHS GP surgery and later in a private plastic surgery clinic. I like talking to our patients at Devonshire Dermatology and getting to know them.

I like going for long walks with my family and I also enjoy going to the cinema.

Tetiana Semenenko

I am delighted to be part of Devonshire Dermatology. I studied at Kherson State University where I was awarded a Master’s degree in Pedagogy, Psychology and English Language. Having developed a deep interest in bilingual education and its impact on children’s cognitive and linguistic development, I was awarded a scholarship to attend Yana Dlugosch Academy in Czestochowa, Poland, to study bilingualism and another scholarship in Germany to explore the pedagogy of Friedrich Fröbel. Inspired by Fröbel’s belief in play-based education and the importance of early childhood development, I became a teacher with a special interest in enhanced language proficiency, cognitive growth and cultural understanding. My work included designing and implementing innovative lesson plans to promote bilingualism, foster creativity and encourage holistic development in my students. Additionally, I delivered presentations and training sessions to fellow educators and was later appointed Headteacher. Known for my communication skills and ability to connect with students, I always aimed to create a welcoming and supportive classroom environment, fostering positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues, valueing their collaboration and community involvement. Some of these skills I am able to enjoy using in my work here.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my two sons and I am also a volunteer interpreter for Havering Council where I help refugees with applying for bank accounts, GP registrations and official papers.

I am a beautician and I have been loving my craft for 13 years now. All these years and still I am expanding my knowledge in the field of anatomy, physiology, skin needs, modern beauty equipment, and professional cosmetics. All skin care in my work is aimed at restoring the work of the muscles of the face, neck, shoulder girdle and decollete, improving blood circulation, restoring the protective properties of the skin, improving the quality of the skin and its appearance. I will be very glad to meet you.

In my free time, I enjoy reading books, spending time with family and friends, doing yoga and running. I have many and various hobbies, I love different music, theatre and cinema.

Katerina Ishchenko

Chief Operating Officer

Here at Devonshire Dermatology, I am Chief Operating Officer. I have eight years of experience of managing successful businesses in Ukraine where I am a director of operations and a business owner. In 2004, I graduated with a Masters degree in Law. My career began in the law department of Cambio Bank with later promotion to branch manager. In 2014, I obtained a PhD in economics. From 2014, I worked as CEO of a financial and real estate company and also launched my own chain of seven restaurants which continue to operate successfully.

I am excited to be part of Devonshire Dermatology and to contribute my talents and proficiency as a member of this team. I bring a comprehensive set of skills, including project management, communication and presentation skills, strategic leadership, social networking ability, a strong work ethic and expertise in time management.

My hobbies include skiing, jogging, reading and travelling.
