Treating Acne Scarring
London Dermatology | 11 September 2024
Acne complications can occasionally lead to the development of acne scars. Scarring can result from any kind of acne spot, but it is more frequent when the most dangerous kinds—nodules and cysts—burst and injure surrounding skin.
It’s crucial to avoid picking or squeezing your areas since this can potentially cause scarring.
Acne scars come in three primary varieties:
ice pick scars – small, deep holes in the surface of your skin that look like the skin has been punctured with a sharp object
rolling scars – caused by bands of scar tissue that form under the skin, giving the surface of the skin a rolling and uneven appearance
boxcar scars – round or oval depressions, or craters, in the skin
Treatments for acne scarring include:
- Dermabrasion
- Laser treatment
- Punch techniques
- Subcision
