Moles are pigmented lesions which are known as naevi. They can appear anywhere on the face or body. Most people have some and most are harmless. Facial mole removal treatment involves a minor excision, performed by our respected dermatologist, here at our Devonshire dermatology practise.
Unsightly moles can usually be removed very simply, but you will need to attend a consultation first. This is because some moles have the potential to turn harmful. We will need to assess the mole you wish to have removed, before being able to advise you of the best possible treatment plan.

Any change in a mole should be reported as it may indicate a malignant (cancerous) change. Moles are more likely to be dangerous if they are asymmetrical, have irregular borders, two or more colours contained within them, they’re a dark black colour, or they have changed in some way. Mole mapping is an annual check on your moles to keep an eye on any changes that may occur. The reason for mole mapping is early detection of any moles turning malignant (harmful.) Mole mapping is particularly recommended for individuals who have 50 moles or more. Having 50+ variously shaped moles is known as Atypical Naevus Syndrome. This condition (ANS) is most often seen in people in their twenties. ANS moles are more susceptible than other moles to progress to malignant melanoma.
